Midland Railwayの今年のイベント（毎年開催していると思いますが）のテーマは，"1940's Home Front"．開催期間は，6月7，8日です．詳しいことは，公式サイトのこちらのページをご覧ください．今回の展示品の目玉は，なんといっても"Special Saloon no. 45000"．当時，英国王室とミスター・ウィントストン・チャーチルによって利用されたという特別車両です．
なお，以下は，日本軍による真珠湾攻撃のおよそ3週間後の1941年12月26日，チャーチル首相がアメリカ合衆国議会に於いて行った演説の一部ですが，ブリティッシュとは，まさに耐え難きを耐えることのできる人々なのです．

Visitors in 1940’s dress are welcome, but no AXIS Power military uniforms.つまり，旧日本軍，同じくドイツ軍，そして同じくイタリア軍のユニフォームを着ての参加は禁止です．もちろん，それ以外の服装なら旧枢軸国からの観光客も歓迎されます．とはいえ，ロイヤルアーミーやネービーの軍服を着用した人たちのなかに足を踏み入れた旧敵国の人間の居心地の悪さは言いようがありませんが．
