2015年，50%もの急増を示した世界の死刑執行数 (ドイツ語, フランス語)

最も多かったのはイラン(977+)，パキスタン(326)，サウジ(158+)．アメリカは1991年以来，最低(28)．個人的に知りたいのは，日本では何人の被害者あるいは家族が極刑を望んでいるのかということです．もし，仮に彼らの望み通りに刑が執行された場合，果たして日本の執行数はどうなるでしょうか． 話は替わりますが，すっかりファンになったBBCの大ヒットドラマ"Call the Midwife"ですが，この番組を観ていてつくづく思ったのは，やはりこういうドラマが作られる国だから，『サンダーバード』が生まれたのだということでした．日本は復讐劇(古くは『忠臣蔵』，『牡丹灯籠』等々)が好まれるようです．

初めての民主的な選挙で選出されたMohamed Nasheed元大統領は逮捕され，現在，健康上の利用によって刑務所から病院へ搬送され，さらに自宅に返されたようです．(軟禁状態．)　同元大統領については，自らのTwitterアカウントにMaldives' first democratically-elected President, Amnesty Intl's Prisoner of Conscience, UN’s Champion of the Earth, Newsweek’s World's 10 Best Leadersとの記載があります．自ら海洋学者で積極的に気候変動問題に取り組むNasheed氏には，今年の3月に懲役13年の判決が言い渡されましたが，国際アムネスティーやアメリカ，インド両政府，さらに国連の人権委員会は不公正な裁判による不当な判決と非難しています．

世界で死刑判決は増加．執行数は減少 - 国際アムネスティーの報告

昨年，全世界で言い渡された死刑判決の数は2500．前年比で500件増加しました．特に，エジプトやナイジェリアで多数の死刑判決が下された結果と国際アムネスティーは述べています．その一方で，執行された死刑の数は22%減少し，また，同じく執行した国の数も過去20年間で41カ国から22カ国へ減少しました．
