The sad history about this song: It was the 6th of May 1942. The Second World War has long since reached the Balkans. A cold morning in Sarajevo, which as so often of dense fog covered war. The Croatian Ustasha police, which thanks to the Nazis areas availed outside the boundaries, led the campaign "Djurdjevdanski Uranak" (Awakening of St. Georg Tags) against the Serb population in Sarajevo by. At four clock in the morning the Serb prisoners arrived - columns composed of the barracks Jajce. To add them were prisoners from the camps Beledije, Cemalusa, from the city jail as well as from the barracks Vojvode Stepe. The columns met at the street Kulin Ban successive whence to them the "train of death" was waiting, which they from Sarajevo to the concentration camp Jasenovac should bring. This was around 3000 prisoners, mainly with young people. The train consisted of 15 carriages, each for around 40 soldiers were allotted. In a car up to 200 prisoners were crammed. It reigned chaos. In those moments of panic has one of the prisoners, of which one says, that he was a member of "Sloga" Sarajevo, fainted, with all pride and fervor started to sing the following: "It ends up the spring on my shoulder, the blooming lilies of the valley, all except me - it is St. George Day)(In serbian, "proljece na moje rame slijece djurdjevak zeleni, svima osim mein")! Then the Ustasha Police closed the slider of cars then people were unconscious due to lack of air (200 people were was provided per car only for 40). Of the 3,000 Serbs who drove off in Sarajevo, 1000 survived not the journey. 2000 came alive at the Jasenovac concentration camp. This left only 200 who survived the whole ordeal in the Jasenovac concentration camp. Thanks to them we now know of this cruel incidents and the song. The art historian and professor from Sarajevo Zarko Vidovic was one of the survivors of the Jasenovac concentration camp. Due to its traditions composed Goran Bregovic 1988, the song of the prisoners - "Djurdjevdan je" (It is St. George's Day).

この曲のボスニア語の歌詞.
Proljeće na moje rame slijeće
Đurđevak zeleni
Đurđevak zeleni
Svima osim meni

Drumovi odoše, a ja osta'
Nema zvijezde danice
Nema zvijezde danice
Moje saputnice

Hej, kome sada moja draga
Na đurđevak miriše
Na đurđevak miriše
Meni nikad više

Evo zore, evo zore
Bogu da se pomolim
Evo zore, evo zore
Hej, đurđevdan je
A ja nisam
S onom koju volim

Njeno ime neka se spominje
Svakog drugog dana
Svakog drugog dana
Osim đurđevdana

英語訳です.
Spring on my shoulder is coming
Lily-of-the-Valley green
Lily-of-the-Valley green
Everyone except me

Drums went, and I'm left "
No dagger star
No dagger star
My companions

Hey, to whom my dear is now
The lily of the valley smells
The lily of the valley smells
Never again

Here comes the dawn, here comes the dawn
God to pray
Here comes the dawn, here comes the dawn
Hey, he's dear
And I did not
With what I love

Let her name be mentioned
Every other day
Every other day
